I bought this book as a Christmas (Happy Birthday, Jimmy!) gift for my Parrothead dad. He hasn't stopped talking about it for a week! A wonderful book with a good collection of Jimmy's songs, although it is not a complete collection. My dad says that the chords are similar to the studio tracks, but are written in a way that is easier to play on guitar.A beautiful hardcover book that is perfect for the guitar-playing Parrothead in your life.

I already owned the Rick Steves & Lonely Planet Barcelona guide books, but decided to purchase this due to the extensive photos and recommendations from a friend. I'm so glad I did as this book gave us a much better visual of the areas, and was the book I carried around with me while touring. It also includes more sites, including minor ones in the area that the other books do not mention. By learning about these other sites, we were able to vary our walking routes a little and see some interesting sites we otherwise wouldn't have known existed. The street/area picture diagrams were so helpful. I also purchased the Rome version of this book, and again was so glad I did for the same reasons.On the flipside, I don't think the info was thorough enough to be the only guidebook to a city. It was the perfect companion to my Rick Steves book, but lacked the information about how to get tickets in advance, skip the long admission lines, and background info that Rick Steves gives. Rick Steves has very few photos, and doesn't include many of the extra sites around the major sites, so having both books was extremely helpful.

This travel guide was very well written with short, detailed information on a number of sights. It included hotel and restaurant recommendations, a survival guide with practical information and it also included a pull out map. The map was okay, but not as detailed as I would have liked. I did like the fact that when the map was folded there was an excellent easy to read map of the city metro system. Some of the other listings in the guide were related to shopping tips, a glossary of typical Catalan food, eating hours (meal times), entertainment information, music, film...etc. I actually used one of the restaurant recommendations and it was spot on. A great meal at around the price reflected in the guide. We also saw the Flamenco show (Tablao de Carmen) which was also recommended and it was fabulous. There are several show options and we chose the show with tapas menu. We were supposed to get five Tapas and sangria and all I can say is that the food just kept coming and when we finished a pitcher of sangria another was quickly brought to us. The meal was excellent and a great value. The Flamenco show itself was incredible - very professional with a live band and singers as well as three female and one male dancer.

DK Eyewitness Travel Guides are very useful. If I were rank them based on my use, I'd give them five stars; I use them because often a picture is worth 1000 words in terms of helping me understand where I want to put my tourist time. Then I use them again to remind me of locations when I am sorting through photographs of my trip. For those two purposes they excel. Some of the other sections on customs, holidays, language, food can be helpful as well.What you won't find in these guides, this one included, is the quaint little hotel with comfortable reasonably priced rooms and family welcome, nor the little out of the way restaurant, nor finally the last word in history and analysis of monuments.What I might wish for as the "ideal guide" is one with lots of pictures, Michelin Green Guide style rankings (*** = make an express trip, ** = make a detour to see, * = see if you're in the neighborhood), planned driving and walking itineraries, and then some Rough Guide or Routard style food and lodging recommendations.

I have the travel bug...big time.I'm not the type of person that loves to dig into articles to read about the places I will be visiting, so Eyewitness Travel Guides are perfect...I skim through each travel guide before I leave, and mark the places that I'd like to visit with a post-it note. In this case, as soon as I arrived in Barcelona, I read more about the places I was seeing.This book has a lot of great tips on the places to see in and around Barcelona. I found some great beaches and was very happy to get lost around Las Ramblas.I recommend grabbing this guide before your next trip to Barcelona...it isn't too heavy and it has all the maps you need in the front & back covers.

I love the DK Eyewitness Travel Guides...when time is short and one wants to focus a trip on the key factors this book is a great resource. The points are concise and clear. Lots of pictures, lots of suggestions. Best restaurants, hotels, sites to see in each part of the city. Very helpful!

We love the DK books. We're casual adventurers who don't do much in terms of tours, but rather prefer to immerse ourselves in the culture we are visiting. The DK books are a great way to do that in a safe way as it gives you the highlights of places, enough history to give you perspective and appreciation, solid recommendations as to food, hotels, etc., and excellent tips on cultural aspects for which we should be on the lookout. Easy to read maps. We did Barcelona with this book and the Top Ten and had a fantastic time.

I had been to Barcelona twice before buying this book to plan a trip with my mother. I planned the trip exclusively with this guidebook and we had a blast. The book had great information and beautiful pictures. It made it really easy to figure out what was in Barcelona and what we wanted to see. The maps and directions were extremely helpful. I don't think I got lost once, which is a big deal because I'm extremely terrible with directions and locations.

We used this beautiful Eyewitness Guide in Barcelona. It is not heavy and easily fit into my purse. In fact, we saw many tourists from a number of various countries walking with their Eyewitness Travel Guide in a plethora of languages. We wouldn't travel without it.

This is my daughter's second Maisy book. Maisy Plays Soccer really helped her after her first soccer lesson didn't go so great. So as we were preparing for preschool at 3 1/2 years old, I researched a lot of "first day of school" books. I settled on this book and another book (Daniel Tiger Goes to School) because the stories were so positive. Prior to starting preschool, my daughter had been at home and wasn't used to being without me or my husband; she also didn't really like being around a lot of kids (one reason the first soccer lesson didn't go so well). So we were really worried about how she'd do at preschool. I started reading this book to her over the summer before school started. As I mentioned, the story is really positive since it focuses on the fun things kids do at school. It helped give her an idea of how a typical day at school would be but without harping on the scary parts, i.e., it doesn't talk about separation anxiety or being left at school with your parents. I truly believe this book had a positive impact on my daughter. Her first day of preschool went so well I couldn't believe it!

One of the few books that doesn't present a "scary" or "I miss mommy" side to preschool. It just details out the day and talks about how much fun Maisy and her friends have. It was exactly what I was looking for. This was our first Maisy book and I'm thrilled with it, my daughter requests it all the time.

The Maisy books work well because of their simple, bright illustrations and very matter-of-fact text that just tells a child what's going on. This one is no exception. It walks a child through what a normal preschool day looks like. No fuss, no introducing the idea that they might be scared, no discussion of how they might be alone- just Maisy doing her preschool routine. It's great. I use it in tandem with Llama Llama Misses Mama, but I have a shy kid who needs that kind of story and reassurance as well.

This is nice book...It tells everything that happens in school in detail but in very plain manner.If you just wan to make them aware about whats going to happen in school or preschool then you can buy it but it does not involve or hint emotions they have to go through..fun or sad..anything.But this books lovely colors ,graphics and animal playing as characters.You can definitely go ahead and buy it if you want to make them ready for routine they would have to follow in school. Bright colors will be pleasant for them to see.It is interesting book.

This is our first "Maisy" book and I've been very happy with it! I wanted a book about starting preschool that was positive in tone (not about being scared or lonely) and gave a basic picture of things that happen at school. Starts off something like, "Today is a great day for Maisy! She's going to preschool." I also like that it's not specifically about her FIRST DAY at school, but rather could be any day at preschool. The story is simple but shows all kinds of fun things that happen at school and ends with the school day ending. It also doesn't show the parents at all, which I think is nice for people with alternate pick-up or drop-off arrangements (i.e. nannies, grandparents, etc). Just perfect.

Quality of the book is nice. Shiny thick pages, but the title is not what I thought the book was about.This is NOT anything touching on saying goodbye mom, nerves about first day, being away from home ... nothing like that at all. It's basically "Maisy goes to school" which just includes nap time.

I was looking for a book to introduce my 2.5 year old to pre-school. She has been home with granny so far. She loves this book. It is very simple and leads the child through a typical day at pre-school. When we took her to the school, she already knew the cubbies where she would hang her coat, the drawing easel. She knew what circle time was and enjoyed her snack time.The book does not talk about separation or tell the child familiar that the parent will come back. By leaving it out, I think it keeps a more upbeat mood. And I get to convey the idea myself in a way that is appropriate for my child.

My daughter was apprehensive about starting preschool so I purchased this book. We read it a few times over the weekend before the big day and she loved it. It does a great job outlining the things you do in a day at school, and makes all of it sound like so much fun. She was still a little leery on the first day, but I really do believe this helped her have a much smoother transition.

For those of you who are proficient in computers this is the book for you. It will teach you how to make a good antivirus program. It is very informative and well written!!!!

However, I wish for more. I was very hopeful but nevertheless was disappointed by the failure to include example code. This book could best be described as a taxonomy of various characteristics of computer viruses. This book is not intended to inspire the reader to appreciate computer viruses. However, the book did introduce me to a computer game called corewars that has attracted a following of very interesting computer users that appreciate computer viruses .

This book was extremely disappointing. Out of 101 stories there were only a handful written from a boy's perspective. This is clearly a book written for girls, but there is no indication of that on the cover or anywhere else in this book. If you have boys who might need support in middle school do not waste your money.

10 hour car trip with an 11 yr old & this was great! He enjoyed it and helped the trip seem not so long as well as read more during our stay. I am keeping the Preteen one back for his next birthday so can't write a review on it but hope it proves as engaging. I should mention tho that I didn't read it, but the 11 yr old was really into it.I think I will glance at the preteen one just so I know what I'm giving him. He loves Chicken Soup stuff tho.Yes, would recommend but glance thru when you get it to keep the kids safe now a days.

I bought this book for my 7th grade grand-daughter and she loves it. At first, she thought it was a book of recipes for different ways to make chicken soup. We all got a chuckle out of that. I will purchase more of these Chicken Soup books for her when she finishes reading the first two I bought her.I was happy to find them on Amazon, since I do a lot of shopping here.

My daughter liked the stories-However, some seemed beyond middle school audience.Esp. regarding boyfriends- there were also quite a few sad stories-I bought it to give my daughter a perspective from the voice of fellow middle school kids,and to be encouraging- some were not.

Had my 7th graders read this. Some loved it, some hated it, but that's teenagers for ya. I loved the variety of themes students could click with. Only wish it was middle schoolers who wrote this, not adults recalling their middle school days.

All the chicken soup books are wonderful and this one will introduce you middle school child to this series.

Great book and gift, my dad was stationed there in WWII!

Visiting Palau in 1990, I bought this book in a gift shop as a souvenir. No doubt it has a collection of excellent photographs and some nice maps. I never actually got around to reading it till now, some 28 years on. Perhaps Palau back then was rather short of writers. Perhaps a habit of thinking persisted that no matter what the job, it would be better to grab some American. I have no insights into why this particular lady was chosen for the task of describing a most interesting country, its people and its nature. It is a tourist book, designed to attract visitors or provide them with a souvenir. You find warnings about various activities, possibilities for boat trips, or cautions on the dangers of certain caves or poisonous trees. But the text---oh, the text! If a high school student had presented this text to her teacher, she would never have passed. It’s really that bad. Where was the editor? “It’s” every time instead of “its”. “The hotel does not except shorts”. “choosen chiefs”, “the restaurants’ specialty is the fresh seafoods”, “smoothen out”, “to take a bathing”, “a woman who escaped to here”, “even natural deaths like a heartattack”. “the person had to lay down for a full day”, “not effected by spraying” and hundreds more! Misspellings, joining words that cannot be joined (ex. junglegrowth, treeleaves), grammatical mistakes, punctuation mistakes, constant use of “like” instead of “as”. Maybe this author is not the only writer with such proclivities, but somebody should have checked before publishing. She also, with her poor choices of words and incomplete command of grammar, recorded a couple of gratuitous insults to Palauans. I say “gratuitous” because she obviously loved the place and didn’t mean to insult anyone. Maybe cultural relativity was not her strong point either. So, folks, I conclude that if you ever run across this book and are looking for nice photos and a kind of guide to the natural beauty of Palau, you might want to buy it, but don’t look for much in the text. The three stars are for the photos and the useful maps.
