I was a little skepitcal of purchasing a used book that was coming from a Good Will in Fla. The book arrived in almost perfect condition, only one corner of the cover is bent a little, and the inside doesn't look like it was ever opened. There are 4 cookbooks from Holland America Line and when I was on our cruise I couldn't decide which one to purchase. I actually bought this one as a gift for a friend and liked it so much that after I got home decided to order one for myself. The prices at Amazon CAN NOT BE BEAT! Way lower than on the ship. I am considering buying the other 3 cookbooks also.

Beautiful photos with each recipe. Tested recipes aren't too complicated. Enjoyable cookbook just to read and browse through for inspiration.

I’ve got to say it: After reading this book, I would select Holland America Line cruises to go anywhere, based on what I see as their ‘adjusted-for-home-use’ recipes in this book!One of my favorite recipes is on pages 170-171, ‘Dutch Apple Cake’. For me, I would not slice the apples; I would spiralizer them! This and bird bingo are the ONLY TWO BOARD GAMES we've kept EVER. We have 5 kids. Board games don't have a chance in hell of getting back in the box intact. But we bought bird bingo years ago and we all immediately fell in love with the over the top quality, build, materials, details, simplistic design of this game. I've not so much as seen a single bingo chip on our floor from this game ONCE. After we play it, it's carefully put back under the stairs. It's seriously beautiful. Thick hard board, thick artist quality papers, cute printed canvas bag for drawing chips, the art is top notch, cool facts.... Highly recommend. Highly. .

I found this cute game in an expensive gift store and quickly looked on Amazon to see if I could order it. I found that the price was much less ordering from Amazon and it is a super well made, beautiful game. My two grandsons, ages 4 and 6, love to play. We've been playing Bug Bingo (Also bought Bird Bingo) for two years with them. They have learned so many skills from playing this game and we always have a lot of fun. They have learned to identify most of the bugs by the beautiful pictures. The game is extremely well made and durable and comes packaged in a beautiful box. The game pieces are all very well made and have no signs of wear and tear after many games. This game will last for years and it makes an excellent gift for a fun family activity. Children don't have to be able to read to play and enjoy it.

We are not big bug fans and got this game in hopes that it would help us to identify and find more interest in the insect-world. This game did not disappoint. The illustrations are beautiful (if perhaps, slightly too realistic) and the gameplay is fun for any age.

This was a Christmas gift for two grandchildren. They love it! We were visiting and played it MANY times with them. Made very well and should be long lasting! They loved trying to pronounce the names of the BUGS. They are ages 5 and 7. Six would play at a time which was just fine.

I think this is a great game for 4-year-olds and above. My 4-year-oldgrandson can play this for hours but let his three-year-old brother in on the game and all bets are off.Pros: The photos are very realistic and the cards, gameboard and circles are sturdy enough to withstand some not so gentle hands.Cons: Can bore the pants off a three-year-old boy.

This was a present for my two young grandchildren, and it has become a favorite family game. Their mom and dad enjoy playing it with them, and the kids can play just among themselves as well. This is a fun gift, and I highly recommend it.

I thought this game seemed a little pricey for Bingo but it is top quality! The bugs are super cool, kids absolutely love it and it's a great quality that will last, I will not be surprised if this game gets passed on to the next generation.

My sons (ages 4 and 3) love this game and are learning to recognize the bugs by sight! This game is definitely the family favorite!

A wonderful book by Dr. Wayne Dyer, if you want to get a very good translation of the Tao, get this little book, its my constant companion. I recommend reading Dr. Dyers "Change your thoughts, change your life, living the wisdom of the Tao" first, its a thorough explanation of the Tao, and how to use it, and have this, like i said as a quick reference to have with you all the time because of its smaller size. Both books have changed me, and my life!

Simple translation of the 81 verses Tao with affirmations accompanying each verse written by Wayne Dyer. I wish I would have had the opportunity to meet Mr Dyer before he left his physical body.

In one of Wayne Dyer's recorded interviews he stated Tao rates as one of the wisest collections ever. I totally agree with this. I read this collection in two days, now I will return to it, digest it more slowly and thoughtfully, day by day. Each verse has a great deal to say. This collection is well worth time spent reading. If nations and people followed this wisdom it would be a different world.. Very highly recommend.

Love it. I read 'change your thoughts, change your life' from the library and was so enthralled with it I wanted to buy a copy. This one is pretty much the same but without so much commentary per verse, exactly what I was looking for as an addition to my bookshelf. However, I definitely recommend that one BEFORE this one if you are new to the Tao. Its much clearer if you are not used to abstract and paradoxical verses. But this one is going to be a great reference for me that I will go back to time and time again. Love its small size and the cover art on mine is beautiful, it has birds on blossom branches, not the same as pictured.

I thumbed through this one and realized I would love it. Am saving it for the new year when I begin a new daily spiritual practice. Wayne Dyer has been a huge influence on my life and I will feel he is still with us as I read and work through these daily nuggets of wisdom. Thamls, Wayne.

What I like the most is the opportunity to THINK and PONDER and CONTEMPLATE what is written on these pages. There is so much wisdom - if only we as a country would wake up to what is REAL vs what does NOT fulfill in our lives.

While the following review may be critical, I have to say I love this woman! I saw her in an interview and was very interested in reading her book. She’s still very new to all of this. I should give this book a poor review. But, alas, I just can’t. Much can be forgiven for her youth and fervor.She is convinced she’s the only one out there with this gift. Or handling this sort of work. Things would be significantly better for her if she’d research. There’s an entire branch of Catholicism called Charismatic Renewal doing just what she’s doing. There are special masses for healing. Many faiths are involved in healing and deliverance. I would dearly love to tell her to find a Byzantine Catholic church to recharge her batteries in.She is 38, yet the book reads like it was written by a pre-teen. It’s repetitive, and often contradictory. I don’t think she’s lying. People like us have to interpret messages, which seems to make us very creative people. If you’re looking for something intelligent and articulate, pass on this book. If you need bubblegum for the brain, enjoy! If you’re gifted and feel like you’re the only one, buy this book. It’s humorous and uplifting. You are NOT alone! Then hit the library.She calls herself a non-denominational exorcist. What she’s doing is not exorcism. She’s not working with demons. Like so many others trying to make a name for themselves in the field of paranormal, she probably grabbed on to the term “exorcist” for its mystique. She is working with lesser malignant entities, but nothing demonic. In order to be non-denominational – you have to have a faith foundation. She has none.Her lack of knowledge about genuine exorcism has left her highly critical of Catholic priests. Straight up ignorance on her part. Not all priests have an exorcist’s knowledge of demons and/or demonic activities. They gather information in order to refer a person to a trained exorcist. I read her criticisms and just wanted to hug her. Honey let me help…Due to our shaky moral ground, the need for exorcism is on the rise. Back in the 90s, Pope John Paul II demanded that each diocese have an exorcist. The Church even went so far as to launch “exorcism school, which now has a waiting list.” But it’s a long slow climb. In 1998, America had 9 exorcists. By 2015 we had nearly 300. But that’s still not enough.While it’s generally true that priests do not see the disincarnate, I personally know 3 Catholic exorcists and one ordained non-denominational exorcist who use laity with the gift of discernment of spirits. As I said, she’s far from the only one.All that being said, she is the genuine article. She is without a doubt an “eclectic healer.” An eclectic uses the trappings of many faiths or traditions to a singular end.Her belief that she “destroys” these entities is also ignorant. Dangerously ignorant. Science dictates that energy cannot be destroyed. Spirit is energy. Unless you understand how to send these entities back to their origin, or teach a person how to protect themselves, attachments can and do return. Very often with “friends.”She speaks of higher beings coming to assist her, such as Buddha, Mohammed, and Jesus. Here I get red flags. She describes Buddha as a fat jolly fellow. It’s a common America misconception that Buddha is a deity worshipped by Buddhists. The goal of Buddhism is to attain enlightenment (buddhahood) and thereby break the cycle of reincarnation (karma). There are many who attained buddhahood. The most well-known being Siddhartha. Based on her description, the spirit she refers to walked this earth as a monk named Bo Dai. He lived a life similar to Francis of Assisi. He is not a deity. As Francis of Assisi is beloved of all Christians, Bo Dai is beloved by Buddhists, thus depicted often in statuary. Mohammed is not divine. Muslims do not worship him. He’s just a man who founded a religion. Like George Fox who founded the Society of Friends (aka Quakers). We must test the spirit. Always.Jesus is divine. Jesus is a “higher being.” She contradicts herself about him several times. Do I believe Jesus appears to her? I most certainly do! God does not reserve his assistance for Christians. It breaks my heart that so many believe it so.She states she’s never encountered Satan. Satan is not a name. Lucifer isn’t his name either. It means “light bringer,” described as the most beautiful of God’s archangels. I know his true name. If she were actually dealing with demons, she’d know it too. I’m sure he’s appeared to her in some form, and fooled her.Lilith is not a Hebrew goddess, as described in this book. There is a lot of misinformation on the net about Lilith. Most stemming from a satire, not historical text. Actual Hebrew text dictates “lilit” as a night creature. Other ancient texts (Babylonian, Sumerian, Assyrian) dictate that the lilitu are a class of lesser demons. Some creature appears to her in a familiar guise. We must test the spirit.There is truth to what she says about the core. It is where the divine resides within us. The place where malignant entities seek to attach and feed. This is where she works her healing. She needs to familiarize herself with other ways healing occurs in the core. For instance some years the Julian and Gregorian calendars align and Holy Week happens for more than 2 billion people at the same time. With all those people in prayer and supplication for an entire week - spontaneous deliverance and healing is abundant. Prime time for her to work on The Cecil.She desperately needs to read up on the entities she’s dealing with. There is so much ancient wisdom she can tap into if she’d just pick up a book. She regularly contradicts herself on how she describes these entities. Again, I don’t think she’s lying. I think she’s struggling and interpreting things. She needs to drop the arrogance and study. She laughingly comments about genies stating they don’t exist. They most certainly do. The Disney concept of genies has a foundation in truth. Genie derives from the Arabic word Jinn, an entity slightly lower on the spiritual food chain than angels. They wreak havoc and definitely take up residence in people.She talks about how these things look as well as their age, size and gender. Spirit has no gender, no real form, size is irrelevant and it does not age. Though they may manifest with such an appearance, she needs to know this is just “smoke and mirrors.”It was SO refreshing to read her statement that sage has zero influence on entities. Proof positive she’s the genuine article. My eyeballs hurt from all the times I’ve had to roll them when some fool spouts off about burning sage to chase off negative entities. It works to clear negative “energy.” Not negative entities. There is a difference.It pains me that she has no manner in which to keep these things out of her home. Again, if she’d just pick up a book, find a teacher, or a veteran group. She also misunderstands why they visit her. They aren’t curious about her. They are drawn to her light. She’s not a Sister of the Darkness. She’s a Child of the Light.

I'm completely fascinated by this woman's tale. Unfortunately, the way it's told is ... infuriating. If you're wondering whether to buy this book, here's essentially how it goes:"I was born with a gift. When I was little, I didn't understand it and I was afraid of it. Now it is my destiny to help others. I am the chosen one. I see hundreds of thousands of entities. But more on that later. I had a terrible childhood and my mom didn't love me. Once, in middle school, a girl stopped being my friend. My life is so painful because I am practically a modern-day Mother Theresa. Once, I went to the nurse and noticed another boy was sick, and I felt horrible. See? I'm so selfless it hurts. But I'll get to that point later. I know so many famous people in Hollywood - but I'll thinly veil my bragging my telling you I want to protect the celebs' privacy. I'll get to that later in the book. I'm really special. I've never met anyone as special, selfless, damaged as me. But we'll get to that a little later on."

I'm not sure if I'm the target audience in terms of spirituality and whether I believe in entities, but this book was the closest thing I've read that has made me think twice. It's also incredibly entertaining and R.H. has such a funny way of describing the crazy world that she inhabits. Fun read for everyone!!

Although the claims she makes in this book line up with historical claims of entities you can glean from various world religions and spiritualists, her tone through the entire book is very self-inflated. I do not know why she feels the need to assert over and over again that she is the ONLY ONE in the world who can remove these troublesome entities. At times, I felt as though I was reading a wordy business pitch. Towards the end, she started to sound like a New Age blog, and found myself skimming instead of reading.I suggest buying the kindle version and seeing for yourself. I wouldn't buy a hard copy, if I were you. But that's just me, this could be your cup of tea!

A one-of-a-kind non-religious metaphysical book about a woman who actually destroys demons. I was amazed at what a convincing read it was. Rh Stavis has been able to see "astral entities" since childhood which latch onto humans like parasites. What the demons get out of it is not exactly clear, but apparently the demons feed off emotions, but how emotions could be sustenance is not clear. RH however is very believable in her convictions and gives plenty of extremely specific and very believable details about how she learned to identify and get rid of demons who are attached to people.There were some parallels to Monroe's JOURNEYS OUT OF THE BODY and FAR JOURNEYS regarding the parasitic creatures he described in the astral world. But Stavis' story was completely different and more compelling, since she was learning how to help people with her gifts, while facing the most incredible creatures imaginable. A fascinating, entertaining read which makes you doubt the underpinning of our visible world, and makes you want to experience the strange parallel worlds that Stavis describes.Five stars. Excellent on every level and leaves a yearning in your heart to have a deeper understanding of our reality.

Hey, I don’t believe any of this silliness, but it may be my low frequency 😂. If her clients believe it, and she believes it, it’s a great placebo effect, AND she did get ten of my dollars. She’s smart.

What I really appreciate about Rachel is that she doesn't charge people money for them to use her gifts. A true healer and enlightened soul. Thank you for helping to rid our planet of negativity!

Arrived in a timely manner, book was in perfect condition due to exceptional care in packaging and shipping.Only flaw I could find in the book, was - to me - the lack of more mercenary commands, and more diversity in them.From what I can tell, the book is focused upon the 3050 era of Battle Tech, yet, it is still a good sourcebook.Overall, recommended, for both play, and a prospect for collecting.

Got here quick. Totally awesome.

My daughter is a fan of survival-type tv shows and outdoor activities. I thought she might like this book simply for the "can you survive" aspect. I now know she loves the whole choose your own adventure genre and has read this book no less than 15 times in the past month. Because the reader's decisions direct parts of the story line, one reading of the book may be quite short because your choices didn't work out so well, while other times the story is pretty long. She is already asking for more of the Can You Survive books for Christmas, so I'm calling this one a win!

My grandson loves this series of books. He and his friends pass them around to each other so they can read all of them!

Me and my kiddo read this over and over. I love it!!!

Great to keep kids engaged in reading. Choose your own ending, they want to see what's going to happen.

Read these with my 8 year old son, a little harsh but he loves them

This is a very interesting book! My students really like it for supplemental reading.

Grade 8 Up The author of Upon the Head of the Goat: a Childhood in Hungary 1939-1944 (Farrar, 1981) continues her autobiography in this outstanding description of the years just after the war. The book opens on the eve of the liberation of Bergen-Belsen and recounts Piri's experiences as a patient in a Red Cross hospital; as a student in a Swedish school for refugees; and as the adopted daughter of a loving Christian family in the Swedish countryside. Piri has survived in large part because of the support of her older sister, Iboya. Siegal emphasizes the bond between the two sisters and between them and their fellow survivors as they search for remaining friends and family and attempt to rebuild their lives. The book concludes poignantly, as Piri and Iboya leave their new friends in Sweden for America, where relatives they've never met await them. The narrative gracefully interweaves political and philosophical issues with universal adolescent concerns. One major theme, for example, is the search for identity, which is expressed among the various survivors through Zionism, assimilation and religion. In Piri, the trauma of losing her family, home and way of life is exacerbated by the normal problems of burgeoning adulthood. Some readers may be confused by the many people and places who are mentioned but not identified , but Siegal's strong characterizations, perceptive observations and compelling storytelling more than make up for this weakness. It is a wonderful account of a very sensitive yet girl of great moral reserves, finding her way in a post-concentration campexistence, with a shrewd and totally engaging approach in Sweden, which may simply have been on a different planet from herexperiences in a war-torn Europe in 1944-1945.It is a great pity that there does not seem to be a follow on from when she arrives in the United States and the ensuing years.The photograph on the back-flap of the cover seems to provide a commitment to life which helped her to cope and simplyembodies a spirit that even Hitler could not conquer.This book should be read by everyone. The style, the world-view, the multiple predicaments mirror to some degree the predicamentsof all of humanity, intensified by the pain of any survivor experience. I wish that she would publish the sequel, as to how thehealing process helped to cope with the loss of her beloved family. Inevitably they remain alive to all decent minded people thanks to the book.Yet one mourns with the author their cruel physical fate and feels the loss of life on a very personal level.

I read this book after reading Upon the Head of the Goat by the same author. Upon the Head of Goat is a rare first hand experience of a child during World War II and life in a concentration camp. Grace in the Wilderness continues where the first left off and we find out what happened to this young lady after she was saved by the allied forces. I cried so reading both these books and would love to meet Aranka Siegal, I believe she is still alive but she has to be quite old now. My life will never be the same after reading this first hand account of her life. Both of these books are spectacular, the first won a Newbery Award.

It was a good follow up to the 2nd book and filled in a lot of details of her life. Really enjoyed it.y

If anyone read only this book without having read "Upon the Head of a Goat" (the author's first memoir), he/she would likely give this book a thumbs down as being a bit of a slow, emotional, teenage rollercoaster as the author recuperates from her Bergen-Belsen and Auschwitz experiences in a new land (Sweden), and reconnects with old friends, makes new friends, boyfriends, and even a new family.In the previous book, the author leaves the reader hanging as she is boarding the freight car with her mother, two sisters and baby brother. In a flashback paragraph from her new Swedish home, we learn that the Davidowitz family was separated by their ages and the mother chose to go with the little children since she could not bear to see them go alone to their deaths.If the book contained more about the camp experience, perhaps it would be more positively reviewed by the young people here on this site. But everyone deserves to have his or her experience told the way she/he chooses to tell it. This is how this person chooses to tell it. If she has not put in 'enough' about the camps, then that is her right. It is hard to imagine being able to write about it at all.A teenager today might not relate to the issues Piri faced in dating, because of different cultural values today, but one who can appreciate perspectives of time and place would certainly find this book valuable and still beautifully written.It was a very personal and exposed story of youth, and I am grateful to the author for having written it. It was shocking to read the young German man's denial of the German peoples' role in this horrible war, and even more surprising to discover our heroine following him up the steps for a drink at the end of the book.Perhaps Mrs. Siegal has one more tale for us about her transition to the U.S. What a gifted writer. I would love to read more of her prose.

(Actually, this is a 4.5 star rating.)This is a very memorable book, like the first book 'Upon the Head of the Goat' (I read them both at age fifteen, in the spring of 1995, haven't reread them yet, and yet can still vividly rememeber a lot of names, details, and events from both as though I'd only finished reading them yesterday). However, in hindsight it seems as though something is missing, and not just all of the friends and family members who were killed by the Nazis. A lot of sequels to books that were about the Shoah, whether fiction or memoir, or whether the characters were in camps, ghettos, in hiding, or just continually on the run, are kind of a letdown. A lot of intense things happened before, what with daily deprivations, increasing regulations, friends, neighbours, and relatives murdered, taken into ghettos, camps, prisons, and death marches, but the sequels to such books seem more like a routine tale of life after the War, no constant "What's going to happen next?" now that the danger is past and the Allies have assumed protective control of the European nations. Though this book, while being guilty of being mundane in comparison with what went before, is one of the better sequels.The early part of the book is the most compelling, during the final days Piri and her older sister Iboya spend at Bergen-Belsen before the liberation. Piri is very sick and has to spend a long time in the makeshift hospital the Allies set up, and then she and Iboya are off to Sweden to begin new lives, along with their friend Dora (who lost her mother about six months after they were taken to the camp they were in, and is now an einer allen, or one alone in the world) and the two Berger girls, the daughters of the woman who pulled Piri into line with them after she had been selected to stay behind in the camp since she was so weak. Mrs. Berger switched Piri with another woman who had been marching with them in the fünfferreihe (row of five prisoners). They meet a lot of fellow survivors in Sweden, including Herschel, who becomes Dora's boyfriend, and David, who becomes Piri's boyfriend for a short time. Piri and Iboya also discover that one of their four sisters, Etu, has survived too. Etu was living in their old house in Hungary, along with her new husband Geza, but now she wants to go to Palestine, where David and several of his friends are also going.Maybe it's shellshock or denial, but in hindsight I don't really recall some of the strong emotions displayed in other after-the-war narratives present in Piri or Iboya, at least not for long stretches of time, just an occasional moment of reflection that they almost didn't have one another, or remembering back to something awful that happened, like how Piri lost her best friend Judi. I know that no news was usually bad news, and the longer there was no news, the worse it probably was, but where is the frantic searching for their other relatives that I see so often in other memoirs of this sort, even denying that they died and that maybe the Red Cross got it wrong? Other survivors even hold out hope for decades that that other person miraculously survived and is alive somewhere, constantly wondering, placing ads, asking everyone they see in refugee centers or walking by on the road after liberation. When do they even attempt to look for Rózsi, Lilli, Lájos, Manci, even their stepfather, or try to find out what happened to them if they're pretty sure they're dead? Piri suggests looking for their stepfather, but Iboya says if he survived the Russian pow camp, he knew what happened and wouldn't think any of them survived. So they won't even look for him so that if he DID survive, he'd know at least Piri, Etu, and Iboya are all still alive? Only towards the end does Piri finally seem to be hit by the full emotional impact of what has happened. I also, in hindsight, don't agree with how they decided to go to America to be with some aunt they've never met, over staying in their new haven in Sweden, among all of their friends and surrogate family, or going to Palestine with Etu. Etu hasn't been in any camps, but at least she has more of a shared sense of what they had to suffer through, far more than some relative they've never met in America will ever! And why wouldn't they want to be reunited with their only sibling left, the way Etu wanted it to be? Also, Piri and Iboya obviously went through a lot together, yet Piri is content to live with a childless older couple who adopts her, while Iboya is away living in some type of workers' dormitory? In other narratives I've read, the friends or siblings who went through that sort of thing together were inseparable; they wouldn't have been okay with going in different directions so soon after that intense bonding experience. They came so close to losing one another before, so why live apart instead of sticking extremely close together? The other survivors I've read postwar books by want to be close together for comfort and reassurance that they're still there and together; they wouldn't be fine with splitting up!I also would have liked to have had at least one chapter dealing with their new life in America, or maybe just one devoted to the emotional turmoil within. It is one of the better postwar books out there, but still leaves something lacking, both in emotions and in the rather bland life they lead in Sweden after getting used to their new home.
